basic transmission unit (BTU)

The term BasicTransmissionUnit (BTU) used in the SNA architecture means the block sum of one or more Path Information Units ( PIU) with the same destination address. Multiple PIUs can have a single destination address and be combined in a data packet, even if they are not part of the same message.
