basic service set identification (WLAN) (BSSID)

The Basic Service Set Identifier (BSSID) is used to identify the MAC address of the wireless access point( WAP) of WLANs. Each access point has a unique BSSID, just as each has a unique MAC address.

For 802.11ac WLANs, this service set can dynamically change channel bandwidth on a frame-by-frame basis, depending on the application. For example, for low- power applications, the narrowest bandwidth can be activated to ensure long battery life, whereas for high data throughput, the largest possible bandwidth is switched.
