baseline power profile (wireless charging) (BPP)
The Qi standard for wireless charging knows several charging profiles: The Baseline Power Profile ( BPP), the Extended Power Profile( EPP) and the charging profile that detects foreign objects, the Foreign Object Detection( FOD).
The Baseline Power Profile (BPP) is for small devices that are charged at low power. The charging power is up to 5 W. Unidirectional communication takes place between the two stations, the receiver and transmitter coils, over the inner-band range. The signals are transmitted with amplitude shift keying( ASK) over the magnetic field. Before the energy transmission takes place, information about the configuration and identification features is transmitted.
