base station identity code (BSIC)

The Base StationIdentityCode (BSIC) is a 6-bit value transmitted in the Synchronization Channel (SCH) and is used to distinguish adjacent Broadcast Control Channels ( BCCH) of the same frequency. The six bits of the BSIC code are composed of 3 bits of Base Station Color Code ( BCC) and 3 bits for the National Color Code ( NCC). During transmission, the 3 bits for the NCC are transmitted first, followed by the three bits for the BCC. The ( binary) format is NNNBBB.
