banner exchange
Banner-Exchange enables the mutual exchange of advertising banners. The participating companies register their websites with a central provider who operates the banner exchange.
The more often Internet users click on a banner, the more credit the website receives from the central banner exchange. The accumulated credit is then converted into a number of banner animations at other participating companies. In most cases, the credit conversion rate is defined as 2:1. Participating companies benefit from a very inexpensive way to generate user traffic. The company Inter Link Exchange was the first company with this business model in 1996 and was bought by Microsoft in 1998.
