automatic network routing (ANR)
Automatic NetworkRouting (ANR) is a routing mechanism that operates on the Path ControlLayer ofSNA. The ANR protocol operates connectionlessly using source routing and routes LU-6.2 sessions and control traffic between network nodes using High Performance Routing ( HPR). The ANR mechanism minimizes the cycles and caching requirements for routing data packets between nodes. An ANR node is an intermediate account in a Rapid Transport Protocol( RTP) link. It reads the header from a Network Layer packet and forwards the information to the next node. During connection establishment, the RTP endpoints determine the ANR information by broadcasting a route- setup message that is transmitted by all nodes on the HPR path.
