automatic data retrieval (ADR)

Automatic Data Retrieval (ADR) is a process that is activated when updating or replacing disk drives in a disk array

. During automatic data retrieval, the controller captures updated or missing data from the disk array through fault tolerances. This is data from a failed or replaced drive

that is stored on the newly installed drive during auto-recovery. After the installation, the data stock corresponds exactly to the data stock before the drive replacement. Automatic data recovery can be activated and resynchronized as a working process whenever a new data set has been read in.
