The brightness, colour and contrast settings of televisions are mostly optimised for the display of films. However, since the content played differs from studio recordings, reports, computer games, photos or films, corresponding setting changes would be necessary to optimally adjust
the display. Automatic Content Enhancement (ACE), an automatic adjustment function of High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), is designed to automatically adapt the setting parameters to the picture content.
With the ACE process, the playback station signals to the display what type of content it is. TV displays equipped with the ACE function automatically adjust their color profile to the content being played.
