auto-responding equipment (AAE)

Auto-responding equipment (AAE) are computers, modems and terminals that respond automatically to a request. The connection setup required for the response is initiated by the receiving station and is fully automatic. Auto-response systems can support OOB management, out-of-band (OOB), and automatically diagnose and troubleshoot hardware problems.
