audio video remote control profile (Bluetooth) (AVRCP)

AudioVideo Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) is a Bluetooth profile for remote control of audio and video devices.

The AVRCP profile is used to transmit the control commands for remote control. The control commands are sent from a controller; a Bluetooth terminal device such as a smartphone or a personaldigital assistant( PDA). With the control commands the user can control the playback-typical functions such as start, stop, next track, fast play, etc.

The AVRC profile is mostly used in conjunction with the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile( A2DP), where it transmits the control commands from the headphones to the smartphone, while A2DP transmits the music from the smartphone to the headphones.
