audio on demand (AoD)

Audio-on-demand(AoD) is a form of streaming audio in which the user can select from a limited number of audio or music tracks and retrieve them from the streaming service's website.

Downloading audio-on-demand files can be music tracks, audio features, reports, audio books and radio pieces that the user can select individually and retrieve from the service providers ' provided audio servers via the Internet. Downloading and use can be free of charge and financed by advertising or subject to a charge; depending on the conceptual orientation, the audio files can also be accessed by subscription.

The audio files downloaded to the user's hard drive can be burned to compact discs (CDs) or DVDs using a CD or DVD burner.

In addition to broadcasters, providers of audio-on-demand and music-on-demand( MoD) primarily include music publishers and streaming services such as Napster, Spotify, Deezer, Juke and Apple Music.
