The satellite positions of GEO satellites are assigned to international regions. The allocation knows the Pacific Ocean Region (POR), the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and the Atlantic Ocean Region (AOR), where the geostationary satellites
are located over the Atlantic Oceanun irradiate the Atlantic region and South America.
The Atlantic Ocean Region is divided into the Western Region (AOR-W), corresponding to an orbital position of 50° longitude, and the Eastern Orbital Position (AOR-E), corresponding to 15° longitude. The geostationary AOR satellites such as INTELSAT provide international communication links between Canada, the USA, the Caribbean and South America with Europe and Africa.
