asynchronous traffic
- Asynchronous traffic is message traffic whose digital signal stream is composed of individual asynchronous characters, the start bits and stop bits.
- InDQDB and Datex-M, asynchronous traffic is a data packet-switched traffic class for applications with sporadically occurring bursts; in contrast to circuit-switched isochronous transmission, which originates from applications with continuous data traffic such as image communication and TV transmissions.
