application to person (A2P)

Application to Person (A2P) is messaging in which an application, usually a web application, sends a message to a user's mobile device via the short message service( SMS).

If such a short message is sent in another direction, namely from a mobile subscriber to an application, it is called Person to Application( P2A). It is a pure messaging service where the sending application does not expect a response from the mobile subscriber.

A2P SMS messages are often customer messages, alerts, short messages about stock market data, marketing messages, appointment cancellations, payment reminders, booking confirmations or changes in arrival and departure times. All these messages are generated by business platforms and transmitted directly to smartphones.

If the SMS communication takes place between two people, it is referred to as person-to-person( P2P) communication.
