Analog Copy ProtectionSystem (ACPS) is a copy protection method developed by Macrovision
. Unlike Analog Protection System (APS), which disrupts the synchronization of the copied video signal, the ACPS process inserts additional, invisible image data into the video signals. The ACPS process protects DVD and prevents copying of the content by video recorders. The inserted picture signals create artifacts and prevent proper recording of picture and sound on a VCR.
