algebraic code excited linear prediction (voice compression) (ACELP)

Algebraic Code Excited Linear Prediction (ACELP) is a speech compression for bandwidths between 2.4 kbit/s and 8 kit/s.

ACELP is an enhanced compression technique used in voice codecs with Code Excited Linear Prediction( CELP) and in the audio codecG.723.1 of UMTS and the EFR method, Enhanced Full Rate (EFR), of GSM. ACELP uses an algorithm to predict the filter coefficient required for speech compression. The speech quality determined by the MOS value is 3.9.
