advanced video coding (AVC)

Advanced VideoCoding (AVC) is a video compression introduced in the ITU standard H.264

and used in combination H.264/AVC.The term "Advanced" refers to the improvement of the compression method over MPEG-4, which refers to many detail improvements. For example, AVC encoding uses a block size of 4x4 pixels, which better represents image details, and makes better use of image information from previous frames for prediction.
