advanced process control (APC)

Advanced Process Control(APC) refers to economical process control by means of control mechanisms.

The term Advanced Process Control is subject to constant change, which is related to the task definition, the improved methods of control engineering and the adaptation to technical feasibility. There are control engineering processes that can be solved with simple logics, while others require sophisticated algorithms.

Advanced control engineering uses methods of preventive control and can adjust control loops in such a way that the processes are controlled optimally and economically. APC systems extend traditional process control, which monitors and controls individual processes, by evaluating and controlling multiple processes throughout the plant. By monitoring multiple processes, APC systems can optimize operations for multiple parameters and evaluate the impact of adjustments on neighboring processes by comparing them to existing data. This allows processes to be operated at maximum capacity.
