additive increase rate (ATM) (AIR)

The Additive Increase Rate(AIR) is a service parameter of the Available Bit Rate( ABR).

The Additive Increase Rate (AIR) controls in an ATM network at which data rate the cell transmission rate is increased. The value is transmitted as an AIRF signal; where AIRF is a factor equal to the product of the Additive Increase Rate (AIR) and the quotient of the maximum cell count (Nrm) to the Peak Cell Rate( PCR), the peak cell count: AIRF = AIR * Nrm/ PCR.
