The IEEE 802.11s working group standardizes mesh networks
, i.e. networks that are meshed by radio technology. As part of the 802.11s standardization, Cisco has introduced the Adaptive Wireless PathProtocol (AWPP), which can be used to minimize interference
during wireless transmission. AWPP is an adaptive routing protocol with which the mesh access points (MAP) check the transmission and reception quality of the radio links and dynamically adapt the traffic volume to the changing conditions. In this way, the optimal route is always achieved, taking into account the load and the interference voltage ratio (S/N).
