adaptive power control (transmitter) (APC)

Adaptive Power Control(APC) is a method by which RF transmitters automatically minimize their transmitting power. With the APC method, the transmitting power is minimized to such an extent that a connection with a certain reception quality still exists.

Adaptive Power Control is used in modem technology for V.34, among other things. It involves the selection of the optimum transmit level for V.34 modems. In addition, APC technology is also used in mobile communications technology to optimize the transmit power within a connection in a radio cell. In this process, the reception level is determined and if it is very high, as in the case of mobile radio devices in the vicinity of the transmitter, it is reduced accordingly.
