Adaptive Power Control (APC) is a method by which RF transmitters automatically minimize their transmitting power. With the APC method, the transmitting power is minimized to such an extent that a connection
still exists with a certain reception quality. Adaptive Power Control is used, among other things, in modem technology for V.34. It involves selecting the optimum transmission level for V.34 modems. In addition, APC technology is also used in mobile radio technology to optimize the transmission power within a connection in a radio cell. In this process, the reception level is determined and if it is very high, as in the case of mobile radio devices in the vicinity of the transmitter, it is reduced accordingly.
