adaptive modulation and coding (HSDPA) (AMC)
Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) is an alternative connection technique in 3rd and 4th generation cellular networks.
The AMC technique offers a high flexibility to adapt the modulation techniques to the average channel characteristics, for each individual user. With AMC coding, the power of the transmitted signal is kept constant during a frame interval, which is achieved by changing the modulation techniques and code formats. This technique adjusts the currently received signal quality to the channel conditions.
