adaptive data rate (ADR)

The Adaptive Data Rate (ADR) technique used in Long Range WANs (LoRaWAN) is a technique for optimizing data rates, transmission time and energy consumption in networks

. The ADR technique should be enabled when a terminal

has sufficiently stable RF conditions. If the conditions for the terminal equipment are not sufficiently stable because they are affected by interference, then the ADR technique should not be used or should be deactivated. Activation or deactivation is decided by the terminal equipment. The use of Adaptive Data Rate depends on the reception of the RF signals. Interference or an excessively high signal-to-noise ratio, which are measured regularly, are decisive for this and ensure deactivation of the operating mode with the reset of the ADR bit.
