accessory development kit (ADK)

An Accessory Development Kit(ADK) is a reference implementation for hardware manufacturers and developers via which accessories for specific operating systems can be built.

The different ADK versions facilitate the development of own accessories by the source code and the hardware specifications.

Accessories can be external hardware components that enrich the operating system with additional functions. For example, weather stations, personal medical test equipment or audio devices.
