X client

X clients are the application programs of X-Terminal under X-Window

. An X client handles the calculation of

thedata and can display the results of the application programs on another computer, the X server. To do this, the X client sets the environment variables, which are the host name or IP address of the host

on which the X server is to be accessed. An X client can be located locally in the same computer or in a remote computer. Theconnection is then established using TCP/IP, and communication

isestablished using the X protocol

. During operation, the user does not notice any difference between the remote and the local X client.
