In microwave technology and radar technology, the X-band occupies the frequency range between 8 GHz
and 12 GHz. These are therefore centimetre waves (SHF) with wavelengths between 3.75 cm and 2.5 cm. This frequency range is also specified by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). According to the older German nomenclature, the X-band occupies the frequency band
between 6 GHz and 9 GHz. Other specifications used in the literature specify the frequency range between 5.2 GHz and 10.9 GHz or between 8.2 GHz and 12.4 GHz. Within the X-band there is the Xc-band between 7.25 GHz and 8.4 GHz, which is reserved for military applications.
