WLAN authentication and privacy infrastructure (WAPI)

WLAN Authentication and Privacy Infrastructure (WAPI) is a Chinese WLAN security standard, comparable to 802.11i and WiFi Protected Architecture(WPA).

However, the WAPI standard is incompatible with the aforementioned security standards. The WAPI standard uses a symmetric encryption algorithm. Chinese products are supposed to support WAPI. Foreign products can implement WAPI through authorized Chinese companies. The internationally used counterpart from IEEE is the 802.11i standard for WLAN security.
