WAP forum

The WAP Forum, in which the most important manufacturers of hardware and software as well as the mobile phone providers are represented, has worked out the definitions and specifications for the development of applications via wireless communication networks. The aim was to create a protocol family in which mobile phones and PDAs could be used to access Internet services via standard protocols. In addition, the WAP Forum has been working on Multimedia Messaging Services ( MMS), architecture, client transactions, and MMS encapsulation.

The members of the WAP Forum develop and maintain the standards.
