The VITAStandards Organization (VSO) is a standardization body of the VMEbus International Trade Association (VITA) and is concerned with the standardization of the VME bus and its successor technologies.
The VITA Standards Organization is accredited by ANSI and promotes the dissemination of VMEbus technology with VITA. It develops and publishes standards for future industrial bus systems. For example, VSO developed the standard for the Front Panel Data Port (FPDP), as well as the VXS module and the VPX module.
VITA and VSO pay particular attention to compatibility between established and newly specified standards, so that mixed systems can also be operated at different clock rates.
In addition to the specification of the electronics, VSO is also concerned with the reliability requirements of the products, which must operate in certain environments under thermal stress.
