V.42, V.42bis

V.42 is a method for error protection, it includes LAP M and the Microcom Networking Protocol ( MNP) in version MNP 4.

Compression with MNP5 and V.42bis

V.42bis is a compression according to the LZW algorithm. V.42bis is only used in combination with the LAP-M mode of V.42.
