V.21

V.21 is a transmission standard for modems that originated in 1964 and was previously used for the first postmodems and acoustic couplers.

The procedure, with which transmission speeds of 300 bit/s were achieved, works with frequency modulation and today has only historical significance for transmission. The modulation method is still used today in some systems for establishing connections in order to coordinate the transmission parameters between the modems.
