U-R2 interface

U-R2 is an ADSL interface between splitter and ADSL modem. This interface is listed under the ITU-T standard G.992.1 as a proprietary, i.e. non-standardized, interface.

In order to enable manufacturers to carry out hardware developments such as modems or routers based on the U-R2 interface, the interface specifications have been disclosed.

Deutsche Telekom offers the U-R2 interface as part of its T-DSL, an ADSL service, and, since non-standardization allows implementation-dependent options, has specified it via Euro- ISDN. To ensure proper functioning and conformity of newly developed hardware components with U-R2 interface, Deutsche Telekom offers conformance tests.
