Sony dynamic digital sound (acoustics) (SDDS)
Sony Dynamic Digital Sound (SDDS) is a lighton system of 35mm films. The light tone is placed on the right and left between the film frames and the perforation.
Designed for cinema sound systems, the SDDS system has eight sound channels: seven discrete sound channels and one low- frequency (7.1) channel. This includes three front channels consisting of three central speakers, two side speakers and two rear speakers and a subwoofer.
This constellation is designed for cinemas and cannot usually be used in the home due to space limitations. There is also no home version of Sony`s SDDS.
SDDS uses Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding( ATRAC) for data compression and digital signal processing.
