Sinaut

Sinaut is a communication protocol developed by Siemens for automated monitoring and control of remote process stations. The main areas of application are telemetry and remote control in the water/wastewater, oil and gas, district heating, mining and traffic engineering industries.

Sinaut is an asynchronous, telegram-oriented communication protocol that transfers data and measured values between remote stations and the control center. The Sinaut protocol can transmit via Industrial Ethernet and IP networks, but also via the telephone network and ISDN, via leased lines and mobile networks.

Sinaut distinguishes between the data telegram, the call telegram and the acknowledgement telegram during transmission. The data telegram consists of several data fields for the start character (2 bytes), the block length (2 bytes), the station number from 0 to 254, special data fields for control purposes, telegram number, counter and type, etc., a maximum of 120 information bytes and a block check character.
