Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications and Posts

The National Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications and Posts (RegTP) was established on 1 January 1998 and was the supreme federal authority for telecommunications and telecommunications until it was renamed the Federal Network Agency in July 2005.

The RegTP is subordinate to the Ministry of Economics and performs the tasks laid down in the Telecommunications Act (TKG).

The regulatory authority provides information on the German telecommunications market, the legal basis and important consumer rights. Its tasks include the preparation of the frequency usage plan, the administration of telephone numbers, the determination of the tariffing limits of carriers and providers, the granting of licences and the tasks within the framework of the Signature Act.
