Perfluoroalkoxyalkane

The material perfluoroalkoxyalkane (PFA) is used as an insulating material for cables

. It is a chemically and thermally resilient polymer and can be used in the temperature range between -190 °C and +260 °C. Its melting point is 310 °C. It has a low water absorption and is not soluble. Perfluoroalkoxy is offered under different trade names. For example, Du Pont de Nemours under Teflon, Ensinger under Tecaflon and Hoechst AG under Hostaflon.
