Perfluoroalkoxyalkane

The material perfluoroalkoxyalkane (PFA) is used as an insulating material for cables. It is a chemically and thermally resilient polymer and can be used in the temperature range between -190 °C and +260 °C. Its melting point is 310 °C. It has low water absorption and is not soluble.

Perfluoroalkoxy is offered under various trade names. For example, Du Pont de Nemours under Teflon, Ensinger under Tecaflon and Hoechst AG under Hostaflon.
