N channel MOS (logic) (NMOS)
NMOS (N Channel MOS) technology is a variant of MOS technology that uses self-blocking N- channel MOSFETs.
NMOS technology has the shortest switching times and signal propagation times of all metal oxide semiconductors (MOS). The advantages of the MOSFETs are shown on the one hand in the short switching times, which are 5 ns, and on the other hand in the low power consumption of only 2 mW per logic. The maximum clock rates are 80 MHz.
The NMOS technology also has the advantage that it operates with +5 V operating voltage and its logic levels are compatible with TTL logic, which means that it can be combined with TTL logics.
