alphamosaic

Alphamosaic is the graphic system used in teletext and teletext for creating the alphanumeric characters and graphics.

In Alphamosaic, the letters, digits and special characters are called up by codes, and the graphics are created like mosaics from small rectangular elements. In Teletext and Teletext, the screen is divided into 25 lines of 40 characters each. Each pixel can contain either an ASCII character, a graphic symbol or a mosaic for graphic representations, with the graphics being represented by squares of equal size. This is why it is also called block graphics. The resolution is low.
