LAN-emulation address resolution protocol (LE_ARP)

LAN Emulation Address Resolution Protocol (LE_ARP) is a protocol for LAN emulation that was developed by the ATM Forum and is used to connect local networks via the ATM network. LE-ARP is used to determine the ATM address of the communication partner, which corresponds to a MAC address

. LE_ARP is used in Multiprotocol over ATM (MPoA). The MPoA server (MPS) and the MPoA client (MPC) mutually recognize each other's existence from the ATM address and the Type, Length, Valuedata field. This information is recognized dynamically and only used when required.
