K desktop environment (KDE)

The K Desktop Environment (KDE) is a graphical user environment for Unix and Unix derivatives such as Linux, which is characterized by ease of use and high functionality. It corresponds to the desktop under Windows.

KDE provides a development environment with which new applications can be created and integrated. KDE is oriented in many points to the features of Windows, implemented on Linux. In this context, especially the graphical user interface is to be mentioned. This can be adapted with KDE easily own needs.

Compared to Gnome, the K-Desktop-Environment (KDE) has a higher affinity to the user interface of Windows, whereas Gnome is closer to Apple's Mac OS X, depending on the configuration.
