Java foundation class (JFC)

The Java Foundation Classes (JFC) include all Java APIs that are required for the development of graphical user interfaces (GUIs) and other graphical desktop programs. In particular, these include: the Abstract Windowing Toolkit (AWT), the Swing GUI components, Java 2D API for two-dimensional graphics processing, and the areas of internationalization and accessibility.

The Java Foundation Classes are the equivalent of the Framework Class Libraries (FCL) of .NET, which have replaced the Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC).
