Java archive (JAR)

Java Archive (JAR) is a compression program similar to the ZIP file format. Java Archive can be used to compress and package text and graphics at a high compression rate. In Java Archive (JAR), JavaBeans are packaged with all resources for distribution. Thus, the units can be sent in packaged form and individual files can be extracted on the receiving side. Java archive files have the extension *.jar.
