J band

The J-band is a frequency band that covers the frequency range between 10 GHz and 20 GHz in the European nomenclature (Nato). This microwave band deals with centimeter waves with wavelengths between 5 cm and 3 cm.

The J-band lies between the I-band and the K-band and is used together with the latter for radar applications, also known as X-radar or Ku-radar. It covers part of the frequency range of the traditional X-band, the complete Ku-band and part of the K-band.

In addition, the frequency ranges between 5.85 GHz and 8.2 GHz and the range between 220 GHz and 325 GHz are also referred to as J-band.
