Internet protocol control protocol (IPCP)

The Internet Protocol Control Protocol (IPCP) is a Network Control Protocol( NCP) for transmitting the IP protocol using the Point to Point Protocol( PPP).

The IPCP protocol can be used to enable, configure, and disable the IP protocol components from a PPP connection. These functions are achieved by exchanging special data packets. Like the Link Control Protocol( LCP), the IPCP data format recognizes an 8-bit long code field, an identifier field of the same length, the length field twice as long, and the data field terminated by a code field.

The Internet Protocol Control Protocol is specified by the Internet Engineering Task Force( IETF) and described in RFC 1332.
