Internet network interface controller (InterNIC)
InterNIC is a supreme organization that maintains the root domain registry, with all three-letter domains for *.com, *.net, *.mil and *.org.
When a new registration is made, OpenSRS passes the domain data to the root registry. InterNIC is the highest authority for the allocation of top- level domains( TLD). It allocates part of the namespace to the sub-organizations, such as the Network Information Center( NIC) or the regional organizations; in Germany, DeNIC(Deutscher NIC).
