Internet cache protocol (ICP)

The InternetCache Protocol (ICP), described in RFC 2186, allows caching of data that is evaluated by its content. The ICP protocol, which was developed with HTTP, requires only the Uniform Resource Identifier( URI) to describe the cached content. This protocol is being superseded by the HypertextCaching Protocol( HTCP).
