Internet architecture board (IAB)

The Internet Architecture Board( IAB) has been making technical decisions and developing policy for the North American Internet since 1983.

The IAB is a stakeholder group that determines the policies, guidelines, and standards for TCP/ IP protocol and the Internet. It provides technical advice to ISOC (Internet Society) and was reorganized in 1989, with technical staff distributed among engineering and research subgroups. The Internet Architecture Board works directly with the IESG (Internet Engineering Steering Group) and the IRSG (Internet Research Steering Group), and provides input to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IEFT) and the Internet Research Task Force( IRTF).

The IAB Board is composed of an IEFT Chairman and an additional twelve members.
