ISO connector
The ISO connector is used in automotive technology. It is a plug standardized by the International Standardization Organization (ISO) for audio signals from the car radio and CD player, for connectingloudspeakers and for telephone equipment.
The ISO plug is available in two versions with 8 and 20 contacts, which are marked in different colors. The assignment of the plug contacts of the 8- pin connector can refer to the speaker connections or other components such as the telephone mute or the dashboard lighting. The manufacturers do not always adhere to the ISO standard for the pin assignment, so adapter cables are required in this case.
The 20-pin ISO plug can consist of three color-coded mini-ISO plugs. They are used exclusively for the transmission of audio signals from the car radio and CD player. ISO defines the connector in the standard ISO 10487-1:1992 and the electrical characteristics of the ISO connector in ISO 10487-2:1995.
