IEEE MultiGigBase-T1

In the context of the development of single-pair Ethernet( SPE), there are efforts to increase the currently standardized transmission rates of 1 Gbit/s, which is processed by the IEEE 802.3bp working group, to several gigabits per second. These activities are going under the name MultiGigBase- T1 and are being driven by the IEEE 802.3ch working group.

MultiGigBase-T1 represents a point-to-point link that can transmit data rates of 2.5 Gbps, 5 Gbps and 10 Gbps. MultiGig technology is used in vehicle cabling. It is designed for distances of 15 m and works with all physical transmission media, such as UTP cable, STP cable, STQ cable, coaxial cable and twinaxial cable. The 802.3ch standard lists all performance parameters and cabling specifications.
